Second Chance Assignments

On Monday, November 2, during the noon hour, students are invited to come to the Physics Lab to write a Second Chance assignment. Since there are no exam rewrites in this class, this is your opportunity to have a mark of your choice eliminated from the Report Card. I WILL ONLY ELIMINATE MARKS YOU EARNED AND NOT INCOMPLETES!

What do you need to do?
• You need to arrive at 12:15.
• You need to complete the Open Book Second Chance Assignment
• You must work on your own
• You must score at least 80% on the assignment

This is a great opportunity to improve your Report Card, mark but as you can see, it will require a strong effort from you. Yes, the Assignment is Open Book, but if you are not prepared, 80% will be difficult to reach. Come prepared and you will be on your way to a much better mark!

For Physics 30, if your goal is to eliminate your Kinematics Exam mark, I am only able to drop its weighting by half. Since we have only written one exam I cannot remove the mark completely from your report card. But at this time the one exam is creating 58% of your mark, so a weighting of half could be a significant upgrade if it is dragging down your average. What I will officially do is add a second exam mark that is the same as your overall mark on the Hand-In Work portion of your progress report. This new mark will be weighted the same as your Kinematics Exam mark.

If you choose to use this opportunity, make sure that you are prepared because you will need to show that you understand these concepts enough (80%) to deserve the mark improvement.

New Physics 30 Notes!

Check out the link at right to find new Physics 30 notes. This is not all of the notes for the unit, but it is the first part.

Math A30 exam tomorrow! Whoops, I haven't been updating this very often. That is the only exam scheduled right now.

End of term 1 is coming soon, so stay tuned for the option to write a second chance assignment.

Important Dates

Hey, it has been a while since I checked in. Last week was very hectic and probably not the greatest for consistent learning as I was away from the classroom for half of the week. Now I am back and we should get right back on track. Don't get me wrong, when I was gone we kept moving forward, but it is tough on the student and teacher to be apart that much.

Anyways, this week and next will have some important dates:

Physics 20: Heat Unit Exam Friday, Oct. 9

Math C30: Circular Function Unit Exam Thursday, Oct. 8

Math 10: Polynomials Unit Exam Wednesday, Oct. 14

Physics 30: Kinematics Unit Exam Friday, Oct. 16 - this will include both Non-vector and Vectors. Your best review tools will be Hand-in Assignments 1, 2, and 3. This will come quickly, but it is necessary that we finish this chapter. Keep up the good work, as most assignments have been done very well!

Math A30: We are working on Functions. An exam will be about 1.5 weeks from now (~ Oct. 20).

I will be sending home progress reports in ALL classes SOON.
