October is Test Month!

I am just kidding about the title; every month is test month!

Markbooks for Math A30 and Physics 30 have been updated on Maplewood. The other classes will be updated next week.

What's happening:

Physics 20 - Heat exam coming up on Thursday, Oct. 7. The review will contain the answers to the calculation questions on the sheet. There will be nothing posted on here. The exam will be multiple choice, plus 12 problems. Of the 12 problems approx. half are calculations and half are written answers.

Physics 30 - we just started Vectors. Vectors will take us about two weeks to complete. After that we will be looking at Newton's Laws and studying dynamics (the reasons behind why an object moves).

Math 20 - we will be writing our Unit 3 Rational Expressions Exam on Tuesday, Oct. 5. The Review Answer Key can be found HERE.

After this exam we will be going back to Unit 1 to complete it. Unit 1 mostly deals with square roots.

Also, I offered students the opportunity to write the Factoring Exam again. Most students are beginning to see the importance of factoring and if they choose to write it again, they should do much better. They just need to see me and arrange a time when they feel that they are ready.

Math A30 - we have just begun Unit 3 Functions. A lot of this unit will be using skills from Math 10 dealing with slope and lines. Another large portion of the unit will be looking at Parabolas again, which we looked at in Math 20. This unit is quite long, so we are probably 2 weeks from an exam.

Thanks for stopping by.

Latest Updates

Math A30 - In math A30 we have ripped through the second unit on Data Analysis. On Friday, Sept. 24 we are writing our culminating assignment.
We have started chapter 3 which deals with Functions. This chapter will have a strong focus on our understanding of lines from Math 10 and parabolas from Math 20. This chapter will take us close to 3 weeks.

Math 20 - we have been on unit 3 (our 2nd) for a while. The unit is Rational Expressions. It really relies on our ability to factor, so practice, practice, practice if you are still having trouble factoring. If you are feeling behind or swamped, please follow these steps:
  • ask questions in class
  • make sure to finish your homework and assignments on time
  • ask for help out of class

I am more than willing to assist you, but please I urge you to find the courage to ask in class. You are not the only one having troubles, and if you ask you will be on your way to fixing the problems. Please do not remain silent.

Physics 20 - Why the Fizz has come and gone, which is a relief for most. We are well into our Heat unit. We will be exploring a lot more applications of heat and how this physics can explain many things in our everyday world. An exam is still a ways off ~1.5 weeks.

Physics 30 - we have our first exam on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The exam covers our study of kinematics. The topics are periodic motion, distance/displacement, speed/velocity, acceleration, and OF COURSE all the graphs that go with it!

Click HERE and HERE to see the answer key for the review. Please, ask me for help with the multiple choice if you can't get one.

Math A30 Exam

Our Unit 1: Solving Systems of Linear Equations exam will be Tuesday, Sept. 14. Click HERE to see the answer key to the review.

Exam format will be 8 multiple choice questions. These questions deal with the process needed for different questions as well as classifying systems. Then there is a question for each method we learned (excluding graphing calculators). After that there are 2 questions with rational coefficients and also a word problem. There is a total of 29 marks (remember only 8 of these come from the multiple choice).

Remember, to get your bonus mark you must complete the review with work shown AND have it signed by your parent/guardian. You must hand it in BEFORE the exam!

Physics 20 Intro Review

HERE are the answers to the Physics 20 intro review. Both classes are writing the exam on Monday, September 13.

A reminder of the Why the Fizz? Assignment. It is due for all Physics 20 students on Wed, Sept. 22. Please, ask any questions you may have about it.

Also, to get your bonus mark you must complete the review with work shown AND have it signed by your parent/guardian. You must hand it in BEFORE the exam!
